TweetMic - inexpensive Twitter app for tweetcasting

About TweetMic: "TweetMic is a simple and intuitive Twitter client app for the iPhone that allows you to make high-quality audio recordings or 'Tweetcasts' and publish them directly to Twitter. There is no limit to how much you can record and you don't need to sign up for any additional service to start using TweetMic. ... Just link TweetMic to your Twitter account and start publishing. You don't need to sign up for any additional service or give any information about yourself. It's that simple. You can easily create recordings and review them before publishing. From within the app you can review and listen to all the audio tweets that you have published. Your recordings are securely hosted on our cloud servers and are not removed unless you delete them. You can manage your published tweets by logging into tweetmic.com using your Twitter credentials."

Note: from TweetMic Google Group, Twitpocalypse thread (Jun 13, 7:36 pm):

"TweetMic is currently experiencing problems due to the Twitpocalypse bug. Publishing from Tweetmic may give time out or connection errors due to the bug. For the most part your recordings are being successfully received by our TweetMic servers but are unable to publish directly to Twitter. Where possible we will be sending affected users a copy of their lost Twitpocalypse recordings from our account @tweetmicSAVE. This way you have your recordings and you can retweet them from your account if so desired. We apologize for the inconvenience and assure you we are doing everything to remedy the situation with all possible speed. Please update TweetMic as soon as an update is available in the App Store. More info on this bug is at http://www.twitpocalypse.com/. Follow @tweetmicapp for news and updates."

While my first tweecast hasn't been published yet, I have confidence the problems will be resolved soon. Visiting a TweetMic user's page on the Web, I can see how recordings can be embedded and shared. Very cool:

Stay tuned!

Flag Day (US) - with broad stripes and bright stars

From the Smitsonian National Museum of American History: "On September 14, 1814, U.S. soldiers at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry raised a huge American flag to celebrate a crucial victory over British forces during the War of 1812. The sight of those 'broad stripes and bright stars' inspired Francis Scott Key to write a song that eventually became the United States national anthem. Key’s words gave new significance to a national symbol and started a tradition through which generations of Americans have invested the flag with their own meanings and memories."

From the Smithsonian National Museum of American History: "The Smithsonian's National Museum of American History will commemorate the U.S. flag's 232nd birthday with its annual 'Flag Day Family Celebration.' With its 'broad stripes and bright stars,' the American flag is the symbol of our nation. The free festival, Sunday, June 14, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., will feature music, theatrical performances and other activities."

* A comparative component that lets users analyze product and service offerings in relation to each other.

* A decision-making component that allows users to specify their needs and find the product or service that best meets them.

AltUse.com - creative alternate uses for ordinary stuff

About AltUse: "Don't Lose it. AltUse It. At AltUse.com, we believe that less can truly be more. That's why we set out to create a worldwide repository of alternative uses to extend the utility of everyday products. In an age of financial hardship, perilous climate change, and overflowing landfills, we offer a smart, comprehensive system to tap into the collective intellectual capital of the planet in order to discover and share valuable recycle and reuse strategies. We enable site visitors to save money, and to help save the environment, by putting their stuff to work in new ways.

AltUse.com offers a catalyst for change in the business world by challenging the notion of marketing products for one specific purpose. We seek to increase manufacturing efficiency and product quality, while cutting down on unnecessary waste. Ultimately, the AltUse brand name will become a noun a la 'Kleenex', or a verb such as 'Google', (ie: What's the AltUse?).

The secret sauce of our wiki style site, a proprietary algorithm, simplifies access to the best alternative uses. The code is written in Open Source to facilitate extendibility."
